“Our lives are knit together moment by moment, a story unfolding before us in one continuous narrative. Some moments are beautiful and hopeful, while others are dark and laden with grief. We found ourselves in one such season during the pandemic as hurtful words were hurled at us. In the midst of heartache and confusion, we took refuge in prayer and the steadfast wonders of nature. 

As we did this, we saw a tangible display of hopefulness in small things like the return of wild violets in spring and the presence of fungi after rainstorms. While we couldn’t make sense of our circumstances, it was comforting to notice the cyclical rhythms of earth as we prayed that “our hearts be encouraged, being knitted together in love.” It was in this way that we emerged from our grief like fungi pushing up from the dirt. We saw our knitted moments differently, holding the tension of peace and pain to rise again in hope. “
